An E-Mail I Sent 3 Years Ago…
by NotSoAnonymous
I recently heard that MSN was going out of business. The news prompted me to go back to my ancient hotmail accounts and refresh my memory. I sent this e-mail to cousins that I barely speak to now 3 years ago. We were inseparable at some point in our lives. Skyping, chatting, talking, everyday. They were in Pakistan and we were in America. Then, Ayesha got married. Tahir moved to Dubai and started a full time job. We went to college and life changed. Everyday conversations turned into yearly whispers.
I wonder if others can relate…

Happy New Years! We have known each other forever, and we have literally grown up together.Even though we live in different countries now, I still remember all the good times we had whether it be showering under that water house at your house in the garden, or fighting over that “JULA” in aunty shakilas house, or playing games with mamu waqar, or taking rides on motorcycles, or watching movies, or making fun of “kaam walis” together. Those times as kids were a lotttaa fun and I’m so grateful to have cousins like you.. like LEGIT! InshAllah we won’t let problems and people and differences get in our beautiful relationship, and we will stay in contact throughout the years, and life! And inshAllah in 2010 and on, we will not lose contact, and we shall not become strangers!HAPPY NEW YEARS GUYS!with a lot of love and careeeeeeeeeeee from mee

I can relate but on a completely different level. I am disowned from my Pakistani side. The only people I talk to from my Pakistani side are my sister, and brother. I think this happens with everyone from close family, and even friends. Keep sending the emails I am sure they appreciate it.
Are you half Pakistani? And I feel like there has been so much drama with my cousins that it’s impossible to reconstruct our relationship, unfortunately.
I am half Pakistani, and the other half is Irish , German, and Cherokee. I am sorry about that. I have had friendships that are like that.
